Easy Strategy

You can make the Penetrator fight easier using ranged damage. Kite the boss around the room, using proper spacing to attack him with a bow or ranged magic attacks. His movement and most attacks are very slow, giving you plenty of opportunities to punish him at range. The Soul Ray spell is particularly effective given its fast animation and solid damage with a high magic build.

Standard Strategy

Penetrator is fairly slow but can quickly decimate your health if not careful. His overhead charge up stab attack is the most dangerous, potentially taking half or more of your total health. His attacks also penetrate blocks, making shield less effective on this fight.

Keep the boss at medium distance most of the fight, letting him come to you. When he attacks you with his single diagonal slash (beginning on your right side), simply roll through it and counter attack the boss. For the spinning whirlwind attack (beginning on your left side), space the first spinning slash attack and then roll through the second. You can attack Penetrator once after the final spin attack. If you continue to walk him back, letting him close the gap on you, you will often only get the diagonal slash. This is an easy attack to dodge and counter attack.

Be very careful of his charge up penetrator attack. You know it is coming when he bring his sword forward and the sword begins to “charge up.” Either strafe or roll to the right/left to avoid getting hit by this high damage attack.

No Hit / Flawless Strategy

While not required, activating “Hyper Mode” (see below) significantly speeds up this fight. The Crescent Falchion paired with a high magic build combine to make this a short no hit or hitless Penetrator boss fight. According to legendary no hit runner FaraazKhan, a medium distance between you and Penetrator is key. Let the boss come to you, while you walk away from him. When he queues his attack (typically the diagonal slash), roll through the blade side of the attack and counter attack him once. After doing so, get back into medium distance from the boss. Continue to dodge through his relatively simple (and slow) moveset, and you will get this boss down without taking any hits/damage.
